9mm Pistol
The basic Max Payne 2 weapon, pretty weak and will take a number of shots to kill any enemy. You can hold up to two at once. Quick firing rate is balanced with a low damage ratio. Use should probably only be considered as a last resort. |
Desert Eagle
The Desert Eagle is basically a ramped up 9mm Pistol. It can be held in either single or dual mode. It's got a greater damage ratio, but this is compensated with a slower firing rate. Will take less hits to kill an enemy, but may possibly cause health loss against enemies wielding powerful, automatic rifles. Easier to perform headshots with this weapon than with many others. |

Ingram
The Ingram comes in both single and dual flavours and has an extremely fast firing rate, making it ideal for taking out rooms full of enemies, especially in Bullet Time. However, it's fast firing rate has a drawback - it'll soak up ammo like a sponge, often leaving you wondering where it all went. It's also pretty inaccurate, but this can be reduced by entering Bullet Time. |
MP5
The MP5 has a slower rate of fire than the Ingram, and only one can be held at a time. It does have a scope, but nowhere near as good as the one found on the Sniper Rifle or Dragunov. |

Striker
The Striker is a quick-firing Shotgun, best suited to taking out groups of enemies huddled together. It's very inaccurate, and doesn't do as much damage as the other two shotguns. |
Sawed Off Shotgun
The Sawed off Shotgun can only hold two pellets at a time, meaning you have to reload often. The reload times can be dramatically reduced in Bullet Time, when the "spin" reload takes place, making it almost as effective as the pump action shotgun. More accurate than the other Shotguns, and best suited to taking out large groups of enemies. |
Pump Action Shotgun
The Pump Action Shotgun holds far more pellets than the Sawed Off Shotgun, meaning less realoads are necessary. It's also more accurate, and is much better in any confrontation than the Sawed off Shotgun. |

Kalashnikov
A traditional assault rifle which is best when you're confronted by a group of enemies who are spread out or crouched behind objects. Fast firing, with powerful bullets. |
M4 Carbine
The second assault rifle available in Max Payne 2. Features a slower firing rate than the Kalashnikov, but has stronger bullets. Perfect for taking out the odd enemy, as ammo can be conserved well. |

Dragunov
The Dragunov is Mona Sax's weapon of choice, but suffers from weaker shots than the sniper rifle. It'll take two or three body shots to take an enemy out, but the firing rate is faster than the sniper rifle. |
Sniper Rifle
A very powerful long range rifle which will take out any enemy with a well aimed shot to the head. A good shot will provide a bullet cam, which follows the bullet from the gun to it's point of impact. |
| |
Melee Attack
When you've run out of everything else, try hitting the enemy with your gun! Mona gets quite angry when she's using the melee attack, and the screenshot opposite is good evidence of this! |
Moltov Cocktail
The traditional petrol bomb. Exlplodes on impact creating a small fire, and will kill any enemy who comes in contact with it. Effective at taking out groups of enemies who are perhaps crouched behind some objects. |
Grenade
A highly explosive "bomb", which can be thrown to great distances. Great for taking out groups, blowing up explosive barrels or crates or even making bodies fly into the air! |
